Triton X
Triton X is a family of nonionic surfactants commonly used in biochemical and molecular biology applications. These surfactants are characterized by their ability to solubilize lipids and proteins, making them valuable tools for cell lysis and membrane permeabilization. Triton X surfactants are often used in protein extraction protocols to disrupt cell membranes and release cellular components for further analysis. They are also utilized in immunostaining procedures to permeabilize cells and tissues, allowing antibodies to access intracellular targets.
