Earle’s Balanced Salt Solution (EBSS) is a buffered salt solution for the maintenance and manipulation of mammalian cells in vitro. It is formulated to provide a physiological balance of essential inorganic ions and nutrients required for cell growth and survival. EBSS typically contains salts such as sodium chloride, potassium chloride, calcium chloride, magnesium sulfate, sodium bicarbonate, and sodium phosphate, as well as glucose and phenol red as indicators.
